English for Me

I’m so envious because my friends have a good in English. Some of them have been living here more than a year. I have been there for a month by this next Monday. I’m feeling inferior because all of them are older than me. I’m the youngest student in that class.

Sometimes I feel lucky, because I have learnt English for many years when I was in my school. My friend here think that English as the first language in my country. But it’s not true because we learn English in our school and try to improve this skill by our self. We use Bahasa Indonesia all the time. I feel lucky because Indonesian alphabet is the same as English alphabet, the different  just the pronounciation. So it’s easier for us to learn English. Can you imagine that Chinese, Thailand’s, Indianesse, and some other country use very different alphabet with English so, they must learn the english alphabet and remember the entire alphabet from A to Z.

Know I’m at the 5th level of CELPAD in this university to learn English. Generally, my classmates are Arabian and Melayu. But I’m the only girl from Indonesia. I think it’s very interesting class. Do you know why? Because we can introduce each other, share about our country, try to understand their custom and it’s very wonderful experience to meet people around the world.

I’d like to share about our hobbies, try to tell who I am, and try to know each other. So we not only learn English but also learn to make friendship with another people who are different with us.

Now, I try to borrow some book from my sister but if I cannot get that book I must spend much money to buy it. I don’t want to do that, because it’s such a squandering thing. It’s so difficult to find that book, I asking everybody but they said they don’t have that book but another book. I’ll try until the end of this week, and at Monday I will buy that book if nobody can lend me that book.

Note:  I wrote it when I was in CELPAD level 5

  2. Hello from Wales

There’s nothing wrong with English – it is my mother tongue – but I’m not sure that it is qualified to be the international language. I’d like to argue the case for Esperanto. Have you heard of Esperanto. It is a planned second language for all. It has very few native speakers, so does not confer added advantages to them. Being a native speaker of English does confer advantages, I’m afraid. Take a look at http://www.esperanto.net Let me know what you think.

  3. Hello

Esperanto? hm, I don’t know that before. But, when I was take a look for a while in the web site that you have mentioned I think it’s very interesting. In the fact, English user are around the world. In my country it,s cumpolsory to learn English.

In job world, there’s advantages if we can speak more than one language (include English as our foreign language). I’mt agree that English is not qualified to be international language, but how to change this? Day to day, more and more people use English, as their second or third language….So, what do you think Mr. Bill?

  4. la kok english TT

  5. wow.. great dik… even a native speaker of English visited your blog :D … that means dzikrina22.wordpress.com is more international than its sister (dzikrina22.multiply.com)..^^

I agree with Bill that being fluent in English (or being native speaker in English) will be a great advantage, especially if we want to study or work in international corporation.

  6. More international than its sister?,,,,i think so,,,:D

  7. yes…..more international. That’s good mom…(ha?mom?) sorry…..hohoho….

But i get trouble to read your wordpress blog. There are a lot of words that I don’t know what they mean…..kosakataku titik oi….

  9. Haha. . .actually the main reason to know that a person is good at a language is he or she can speak it. . . . .i haven’t done it yet.

  10. That’s true, sometimes I think that our English Lesson in our school is not very helpful. Why? it is because we just know the theory, after graduate from high school ?(it means we already learn English 12 years!) we still cannot speak English.

In my case, I must stay 4 mounth to make make English better (I still learn English actually…)

    Is there something wrong?

  11. Yes I agree……..

  12. Learning actual language isn’t different from programming language. . .i think. We learn the structure to get the basic then we develop it by ourself.

  13. English is always my most favorite subject from elementary, high school, even in college now…
